This course is designed to help students develop the nature of scientific inquiry. Students explore the diversity of life and the interrelationships among life processes at the molecular level of the cell. Units include: Introductory Chemistry, Macromolecules, Energy, Digestion, Transport, Photosynthesis, Respiration, Genetics, Protein Synthesis, Virology and Ecology. Students who may be considering majoring in science or a medical field are encouraged to challenge themselves with this higher-level course. In addition to completing a significant lab component, students are also required to read the novel "Hot Zone" as well as complete a frog dissection.
